Important Notice

Please read before using this app. It shows general ocean and weather conditions to help you plan. It does not determine whether any beach, activity, or moment is safe, and favorable-looking data is never a guarantee of safety.

Conditions change rapidly

Wave, wind, tide, and current conditions on Kauaʻi can change within minutes. The data comes from third-party public services, including the National Weather Service (NOAA) and Open-Meteo, and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any information shown, including data from those services. Always observe actual conditions before entering the water.

Use your own judgment

This app does not replace lifeguards, posted warning flags and signs, or official advisories from the County of Kauaʻi and the National Weather Service — those always override what is shown here. When in doubt, stay on shore. If a beach has no lifeguard, the safest thing is often not to swim. You alone are responsible for your decisions and your safety.

Emergencies — call 911

In any emergency, call 911 immediately. The Kauaʻi Ocean Safety Bureau and Kauaʻi Fire Department respond to ocean emergencies.

No liability

Swimming, snorkeling, surfing, and other ocean activities carry inherent risks of serious injury and death, including from waves, shorebreak, and currents that are natural and not always visible. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the creators and distributors of this app are not responsible for any injury, illness, death, or property damage arising from use of this app or its information, whether based on contract, negligence, or any other theory. You assume all risk when entering the ocean or visiting any location shown.

What we collect

No personal information. No accounts, names, emails, phone numbers, or precise location. There is no signup, no login, and no profile.

We do use privacy-respecting product analytics (PostHog) to understand how the app is found and which features are used — for example, which sections visitors open and how long they spend — so we can keep improving it. This is anonymous usage data only. We do not use tracking cookies (analytics state stays in your browser's local storage), and if your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, we turn analytics off entirely.

What we do not do

We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other websites. We do not collect anything that personally identifies you.

Weather data

The app fetches public weather and ocean data from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com). Your IP address may be visible to Open-Meteo when these requests are made — this is standard for any website. We have no contract with them and receive no data back about you.

If you tap "Locate Me"

Your browser will ask permission to share your location with this app. If you allow it, your position is shown on your screen only — it never leaves your device. We do not see, store, or transmit it.

Offline cache

If you install this app to your home screen, your browser caches recent map tiles, weather data, and beach photos so the app works without signal. That data lives on your device and is never transmitted to us. You can clear it any time from your browser settings.

Affiliate links

Some external links (gear rental, tours) may include affiliate codes. If you make a purchase, the merchant may pay this app a small commission. The merchant — not us — receives your purchase information directly from you.
